Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!

Do you love Dr. Seuss?  Hiram Elementary certainly does!

To celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday and the love of reading, Hiram students and staff participated in activities centered around the many beloved books written by the great author.

The week began with a visit by the Cat in the Hat.
Students from PB Ritch Middle School came as guest readers to each classroom to read. They did a wonderful job reading and explaining why we participate in Read Across  America.

Everyone came to school with their best Who Hairstyle that would have made all of the Who’s down in Whoville proud.

Students participated in a Dr. Seuss poster contest. One winner was chosen from grade levels 1st-5th.  The winners were:  1st- Anna Kate Gandy, 2nd- Jordyn Coulter, 3rd- Isabella Rocha, 4th- Beatrice Borders, and 5th- Emily Rakestraw.

Then the week was ended with a fantastic Book Parade. Classes created posters, banners, and came dressed as their favorite characters from a favorite book the class loves.

It was a wonderful week of celebrating and enjoying reading!
