Paulding Students Advance to Regional National History Day Competition

Several students from Paulding County are taking part in the state National History Day competition on April 25th.

National History Day is a national competition that began in 1974. The competition allows students the opportunity to chose a project to research and analyze it -- as it relates to the theme. This year's theme is "Leadership and Legacy in History."

Students can exhibit their research in a variety of ways: exhibit boards, web sites, performances, essays and documentaries.

Sammy McClure Middle School has 4 winners:

From left to right:  Erin Ledbetter, Bella Defelippi, and Bailey Marsh (All Won First Place in the Region for Performance), Mrs. Laura Webb, 8th Grade Social Studies Teacher;  Marisol Griffiths, (Second Place in Documentary)

Herschel Jones Middle School is also sending a student to the state competition:
Ashley Kaleta
Ashley's website highlights the explosion of the Challenger. She not only connected the subject to its historical significance, but also explained the science of the explosion.

Congratulations to all our winners! Good luck at State!
