Scoggins Band Wins 1st Place in Southern Start Music Festival

The Carl Scoggins Sr. Middle School 7^th/8^th  band performed for the Southern Start Music Festival on March 27^th, 2015, at the Riverside EpiCenter.  The band performed for 3 adjudicators.

The Scoggins band musicians performed  “Lassus Trombone” by Henry Fillmore/Balent,  Colliding Visions by Brian Balmages and Arabian Dances by Roland Barrett.  The band competed in the regional event against 25 other middle schools and 4 high schools from Georgia, Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina and Mississippi.

The Scoggins Middle School band was awarded the 1^st place trophy for highest scoring middle school performing group.  Additionally, the Scoggins Middle School Band was awarded the Southern Star Music Festival Grand Champion Trophy for receiving the highest scores of any performing group at the Southern Star Music Festival.  This is the band’s second time receiving the Sweepstakes Award at the Southern Star Music Festival.
